Supercade was founded in 2001 with the publication of Supercade: A Visual History of the Videogame Age 1971-1984 (MIT Press) to celebrate the medium of games. It has since grown to include the Supercade Collection – one of the most significant private collections of vintage video arcade, home console, and computer games, industry artifacts, documents, ephemera, and videogame-inspired artwork – which now holds thousands of games and important objects. In 2022, the newly established Supercade Press published the second volume chronicling 1985-2001 and announced the launch of the first world-class interactive museum dedicated exclusively to the history, culture, and future of games.
